This Policy is intended to provide guidance to the staff in relation to the acceptance of donations on behalf of Reaching Sky Foundation. This policy ensures that we do not compromise on our mission and values when it comes to fundraising. Reaching Sky Foundation is a non-profit organization under Indian Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860. It provides the right channels for compassionate citizens to begin and manage initiatives that solve for hunger and other initiatives/campaigns locally. With a presence in PAN India, Reaching Sky Foundation continues to work towards its joint mission of ‘empowering youth through Volunteering’.
Accept and Refuse Donation Reaching Sky Foundation believes that harnessing the power of the private sector and philanthropists is crucial in realizing its mission “empower youth through volunteering”. Donations are accepted and welcomed from individuals, partnerships, corporations, foundations, government agencies, or other entities, without limitations. However, there may be limited circumstances when Reaching Sky Foundation will decline a donation, and it reserves the right to do so. All decisions to accept donations will be made by the Board. We have a number of high-risk indicators, where we assess the opportunity/ donation on an individual basis to balance what we can accomplish versus the risks. For all high-risk donations we follow a robust Donation Acceptance Process. We ensure that we make decisions that are in the best interests of our mission: which means, assessing potential risks to our programs/ initiatives, our staff Reaching Sky Foundation’s reputation and effectiveness whilst taking into consideration the impact Reaching Sky Foundation could have through its programming and advocacy by accepting the donation. Periodic partnerships are reviewed at-least annually or as and when the need arises where it is apparent that the risk of partnership has changed materially. We reserve the right to refuse donations or terminate partnerships where the activities of the organization or individual conflict with our goal of achieving our mission. Donations deriving from specified activities that are incompatible with our charitable objects are classified as ‘non-Acceptable’ donations and we reserve the right to decline or to accept donations from donors The donations/funds may be raised either locally or through foreign sources. Compliance with the clauses in the Memorandum of understanding or grant agreement with the donor need to be ensured. Further, in case of foreign funding it is to be ensured that all acceptances are in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (“FCRA Act”). Reaching Sky Foundation also need to appropriately disclose these on their website or on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, as it may deem fit. In addition, sufficient and appropriate documentation (KYC) needs to be in place/ensured at the time of accepting these grants or donations.
